I peer out of the bathroom window to a heavy mist although it is only 0600h. Heidi has woken and needed to be changed and she is getting a feed. Again, her feed times are spacing out a bit, but do tend top arrive just as you think it is time for a deep sleep.

She has a habit of being active at 0500h or 0600h and then has a big lie –in from then until about 0930h. This morning all was quiet and she thought everyone had left I think, and so was making a grumbling noise and being thoroughly awake. I rolled across the bed (as Rachel was downstairs getting the bottle ready and expressing some milk) and peered in to Heidi, who immediately perked up at seeing a friendly face and then went straight off to sleep for two hours. Hopefully reassured that she was not alone.

We visited Paignton Zoo today which is only a few yards from where we live. Heidi has never been there so we wanted to walk over to see Fred’s bench by the ape island. We had banked on it being quiet, as the schools should have gone back by then, but no, it was full of school parties.

We sat on Fred’s bench for a while and then headed over to the goats which were all in hiding because of the kids tormenting them.

One solitary goat braved the horn-shaking and tail pulling but did not seem interested in Heidi, and neither she with the goat.

We visit Claire for another long chat and her mum Margaret arrives and so Heidi gets another person to snuggle up against.

The rain sweeps in by the time we come home and Heidi is awake wanting more feeding.
